In Thailand, people have taken to the streets to protest against their government.  Musical bands are at the forefront of the rallies while people are marching along.  When they reach intersections traffic police come out and clear the traffic so they can move on without any disturbance.  I approached a policeman after I saw him helping the protestors.  I told him that I appreciated his kindness and cooperation.  He said people were involved in demonstrations because they were told that they would earn 800 baht each for their participation.
